Restaurant, Terrace & Courtyard "Edno Vreme"
Our house is one of the oldest preserved in Karlovo — built in the 18th century, when the town was already a thriving artisan and trading center at the foot of the Balkan range. It bears all the hallmarks of Revival-era Bulgarian architecture: a tall covered terrace ("chardak"), carved-wood ceilings and stairs, whitewashed walls, and a stone well in the courtyard.
Local memory has preserved this house under the name "The Camel's House" — because, by legend, this was the first house in Karlovo to have an indoor toilet. At the time, this was such a novelty that the owner was jokingly called "the one with the camel" — so the elders tell us.
Restoration with reverence
Years ago, the house was carefully restored by master craftsmen from Old Plovdiv. The exquisite blue Revival-era façade, the walnut woodcarvings on the ceilings, the chardak — all restored to their authentic form. The floors creak just as they always did; the fireplace softly crackles with wood from the Balkan range.
Today, the house holds the status of a Cultural Heritage Site — protected by the state for future generations.
25 years of refined taste
This year the restaurant celebrates 25 years — a quarter-century in which we have hosted thousands of lunches, dinners, celebrations, and quiet moments. Our kitchen is led with reverence for old recipes and curiosity for modern flavors. The result is a menu where tradition meets the present day.
